A secluded island paradise set against a backdrop of lush tropical forest, Pimalai Resort and Spa Thailand sits alongside a vast stretch of sandy beach. With a superb choice of eight fantastic restaurants and bars, a spa, two stunning infinity pools, tennis courts and a PADI dive centre, this is truly a world apart.

‘Peace, serenity and solitude’ is the mantra here at Pimalai Resort and Spa with spacious room, suite and villa accommodation. A number of the villas are set on the hillside and have their own private infinity pools. In the evening, sit on your veranda and watch the deep orange of the setting sun as it disappears over the horizon against a dark blue sea and sky.

Paddle in the cooling water along the bright white sandy shore with a gentle sea breeze in your hair. Then join a Pimalai Resort daily dive tour and witness the vast array of marine life from sea horses and ghost pipefish to huge manta rays.

Environmentally Conscious

Alongside refillable ceramic bottles, sugar cane straws, electric golf carts, a coral propagation programme, and “Say No to Plastic” bags whose proceeds support plastic-free activities of local schools, Pimalai Resort offers nature and wildlife walks around its grounds and organic gardens. Together with the Thai Fishery Department, Pimalai has held the annual clownfish release at Koh Haa for 12 years, a neighbouring archipelago which hopes to soon be recognised as a fish sanctuary.

Cultural Custodians

Just steps away from the Andaman Sea, Pimalai Resort has been designed with both nature and Koh Lanta culture in mind. Island details are woven throughout the interiors, including bird cage lampshades inspired by the local singing contests of the Red-Whiskered Bulbul birds, and a traditional long-tail boat decorating the Rak Talay Restaurant, which gives guests an authentic taste of Koh Lanta cuisine. The resort also organises Thai cooking classes, Muay Thai sessions, and Batik painting with local artists.

Community Minded

Though secluded in its tropical setting, Pimalai Resort fosters a strong sense of community through a number of island initiatives, including beach clean-ups, eco mangrove forest tours with local guides in gondola boats, and recommended visits to artisan stalls and shops in the Old Town. The resort helps to promote Aunty Bee’s Eco Handicraft, a local boutique selling bags made from recycled products, while sourcing all seafood from local suppliers who respect the marine ecosystem.

Introducing Koh Lanta

In an archipelago of tropical islands sits Koh Lanta – a place to step off the tourist trail and escape from the bustling side of Thailand. The beaches here are sublime. And even though you’ll find it secluded and tranquil, you’ll still have plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from.

Things to do

NATURE
Koh Lanta is the biggest island in the local archipelago that forms part of a marine national park. Explore untouched swathes of mangroves, or hike rugged wooded hills. Then dive down into some spectacular coral formations.

CULTURE
The island is home to a diverse array of faiths and cultures, including Buddhists, Muslims and the Chao-Le, who are known as ‘sea gypsies’. Learn about the Chao-Le way of life and their traditions that have been unaffected by the tourism that surrounds them.

LANDMARKS
In the centre of Koh Lanta you’ll find the Khao Mai Kaew caves, a stunning collection of caverns and rock formations. Arrange to hire a private guide from your luxury hotel to show you the way, and you can even take an elephant ride while you are here.
